There are days when the Steamboat NATCHEZ elicits feelings of being alone. It carries memories of a time when there were thousands of paddlewheelers – hundreds just docked side-by-side along the New Orleans Riverfront. It was then that the river held a certain magical spell over America. Today you can see this last steamer on the Mississippi, taking voyagers out for a brief trip back in time. It is a ghost, a memory, a glimpse, a throwback, a mystery.
